50 Years of Independence: The Greatest Spectacle Ever – 20 September, 19:00, Grand Harbour, Valletta
To celebrate Malta’s 50th Anniversary of Independence, the Fondazzjoni Celebrazzjonijiet Nazzjonali will be staging a multimedia spectacle in the Grand Harbour, Valletta involving a wide range of activities, attractions and art in most of its forms.
The spectacle will include an aerial display by four planes doing pyrotechnics, a helicopeter display, various dance performances, video projections on the bastions, a light show, performances of different genres of music, a display by 40 jetskis and another one involving Maltese dghajjes tal-pass, a poetry reading and, of course, amazing fireworks.
The spectacle is designed to bring together the various activities and artistic performances taking place in various parts of the Grand Harbour together in real time. Through audiovisual technology and projections on the screens and the bastions the audience will be able to see certain activities live but which are synchronised with others taking place somewhere else and projected.
The Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton will be in attendance at the Upper Barrakka. The President of the Republic, the Prime Minister and the Opposition Leader will deliver their messages about the 50th Anniversary of Independence.
To round off the evening, at Ta’ Liesse there will be a live concert featuring Malta’s best singers and musicians.
The spectacle starts with the aeronautical display at 19:00.
