Spend the day with Heritage Malta and let's taste this local dish!
Join Heritage Malta's Team at the Inquisitor's Palace in Birgu on Saturday 12th April, between 10:00am and 12:30pm, to learn how to prepare the succulent local speciality of Stuffed Calamari.
Despite only being in season from mid-December to March, squid is nowadays consumed all year round and is one of Malta's most popular sea dishes. Locally, squid is better known by its Italian culinary name 'calamari', in turn derivative of the Medieval Latin 'calamarium', referring to 'ink pots' since squid have the ability of holding ink. This is typical of many languages, including Maltese which practically makes use of the same word for both the mollusc and the writing accessory, hence the saying "bil-pinna u l-klamar".
Let's learn about the history behind this recipe and cook a unique version of it in the majestic setting of the Inquisitor's Palace. Do not forget to bring a container to take home your delicious creation!
Tickets cost €45 and can be purchased online here Store – Heritage Malta or at any Heritage Malta museum or site.
