Il-MAQLUBA – HAGAR QIM (non-circular)
Our transport leaves us outside St. Matthew’s Church and Il-Maqluba on the outskirts of Qrendi.
Facing the church, we take the road to the right (Triq Wied Iz-Zurrieq). At the top of the hill we stop to admire the view and continue to walk until the “T” junction. We will soon see Filfla directly ahead and continue until we come to the Siggiewi to Wied-Iz-Zurrieq road. We cross the main road and turn left into a wide cart track around the headland of the hill until we reach Hamrija Tower. We pass inland of the tower until we reach Congreve memorial. This was erected in memory of Sir Walter Norris Congreve, Governor of Malta, who was buried at sea on the 4th March 1927 between this point and Filfla.
From this memorial we follow a path to Mnajdra temples, and then turn uphill to visit the Misqa Tanks. We return to Hagar Qim, where we find our coach waiting for us in the car park.
