Friday 15th August throughout Malta and Gozo.
The Feast of Assumption is celebrated across the Maltese Islands on the 15th August every year and is also known as the feast of Santa Marija.
The day is marked by a public holiday and feasts are held in numerous towns and villages in Malta and Gozo to mark the ascent of the Virgin Mary into heaven. Processions are held, with brass bands playing plus firework displays and traditional food stalls selling nougat and ice cream.
