Beatrice Martin for the young
Learn about the harpsichord through this dynamic workshop / recital!
Luckily for you youngsters, Beatrice Martin has kindly offered to play, especially for us, on the 13th of February. We will have the opportunity to listen to the beautiful sound of the harpsichord before her concert on the following day. We first become familiarised with the instrument, presented in a fun and interactive workshop!
The FIRST 100 KIDS (recommended ages: 8+ / younger children may enjoy this event although they will have to be accompanied throughout). Attendance is free of charge though places will need to be booked via the Teatru Manoel booking office.

Contemporary Sounds Good! series
Extended Piano Techniques Workshop with Gabi Sultana
These workshops are intended to raise awareness on Contemporary Music. The Three C's – Henry Cowell, John Cage and George Crumb are the main focus of Gabi Sultana’s presentation though other composers, such as the Belgian Stefaan Prins will also be discussed.
A short history of the piano followed by an introduction to these pioneers and their contribution to contemporary music will be explored. During the workshop, all participants will have the opportunity to see how the piano works and what different sounds can be produced. Various compositions will be used to illustrate these techniques.

TOI TOI Beethoven
Renowned viola player Gerard Causse and pianist Felipe Ribeiro will play selections of music by Beethoven and Franck. This short recital is aimed specifically at children aged 8 – 14 and will be an exciting opportunity to engage with the musicians and learn more about these pioneering romantic composers.

YOUTH THEATRE : Inspiring the future through creativity
Now, more than any other time, there is a thriving theatre scene in Malta. A whole new generation of young actors has taken to the stage, with many more following in their footsteps. The aim of The Manoel Youth Theatre is to provide a training opportunity for young actors aged between 16 and 20 years old. This group would meet on a weekly basis at the Manoel Theatre (Saturday afternoons from 2pm until 5pm) and would focus on giving young actors the opportunity to explore and reach their creative potential through a quality theatre arts experience.

This day – long seminar offers a detailed practical workshop on auditioning for UK drama schools as well as local productions. Participants will explore a complete audition process, spending time working individually on improvisation, as well as prepared monologues. We will also explore working within an ensemble. Feedback for those taking part will be also provided, together with an opportunity for participants to reflect and develop their own awareness of the work and themselves as the workshop progresses.
