World Wetlands Day and the end of hunting season is held at Għadira Nature Reserve.
Wetlands play a vital role in supporting biodiversity, purifying water, and controlling floods while providing habitats for plants and animals. They are essential to maintaining natural cycles and supporting local livelihoods. This open day will offer you the chance to explore these unique ecosystems, learn about their importance, and take part in fun and educational activities for the whole family!
The day will include:
New Birdwatching Hide: Experience the newly built, fully accessible birdwatching hide.
Family Activities: Test your skills at identifying birdcalls and wetland plants!
New Għadira Cartoon: Meet the characters of the new Għadira cartoon and try to spot them around the reserve.
Meet the Experts: Chat with the experienced BirdLife Malta staff and volunteers about wetlands and their vital importance.
This free event is perfect for families, nature enthusiasts, and anyone looking to enjoy a beautiful day outdoors while learning about wetlands.
Don't forget to bring your nature passport to collect your stamp for the chance to win a prize at the end of the year!
